Although the Mentawai Islands are renowned for their picturesque, barreling, and powerful waves, there's no need to feel intimidated or think that they're beyond your level of surfing. In the Playgrounds area where Kaini is situated, there are over 20 waves to choose from, ranging from long and mellow waves that are ideal for longboarding to powerful and often barreling waves, such as the famous Kandui.

I had the BEST time at Kaini. I've been on a lot of surf trips in my life, and this one has been the best... by far! The space was perfect, right in front of an incredible wave, clean, spacious, well decorated, and organized. The location was IDEAL - close to so many different waves. Most importantly though were the staff. The staff singlehandedly made our experience what it was. The guys were so kind, professional, knowledgeable, and fun! We had a BLAST surfing with them. They went above and beyond to make sure we had an incredible experience. The kitchen staff blew us away every single day with the food. They cooked something different and delicious daily. I personally have dietary restrictions (vegan & gluten-free) and they were able to understand and accommodate perfectly. I couldn't recommend Kaini more to anyone looking to surf and explore the Ments!
Amazing place, amazing people! This is so far my favourite holiday. The place is so well thought, super clean, amazing location and the people are the absolute best. I cannot rave enough about my stay with the Kaini team. I stayed for 2 weeks and would have stayed longer if it wasn't for work. Everything was well planned and super organised. The food is incredible, we were served a different meal each day. The chef is a genius! We surfed so many different waves during our stay and our surf guide (Fadil) was knowledgable, fun and all round amazing. The entire group was intermediate level and he made sure we all went out there, caught waves and had fun! I cannot wait to come back and stay with Kaini and their team again!! Thank you guys, you rock!!
