Terms of service

This section contains the terms of service that all guests of have to agree with when staying at Kaini Mentawai. Any completion of payment is considered as acceptance of the terms of service listed on this page.

 

Accommodation

The number of persons occupying a bungalow must not exceed the number stated in the booking confirmation. Kaini Mentawai reserves the right to ask guests to leave or refuse any booking if it is deemed unsuitable for the bungalow.

Cancellation policy

In case of cancellation, deposits and final payments will not be refunded. However, if a cancellation occurs before 60 days of the intended arrival date, the booking may be rescheduled for a future date, provided there is availability.

If the original booking gets rescheduled for a future date where the price is higher, the difference is to be paid by the guest.

Rates for group bookings are fixed, and if there is a cancellation of an individual within the group, the group rate remains the same. This means that if the individual who canceled does not pay, the rate for the remaining group will compensate for it.

Cancellation of a trip must be made within 60 days of your departure date, and all deposits are non-refundable. There are no refunds or partial refunds given for early departures from Kaini Mentawai due to environmental factors. Kaini Mentawai will not accept responsibility for canceled trips or trips that have been cut short due to reasons outside of Kaini Mentawai's control, such as natural disasters, bad weather, unstable political unrest, pandemics, geopolitical or national situations.

Suppose a rescheduling request is made later than 60 days before arrival but at the latest 30 days before arrival. In that case, this will be possible but is subjected to a 15% reschedule fee of your total invoiced amount. This needs to be notified to us in writing by email.

Complaints

If there is a reason for a complaint concerning the stay at Kaini Mentawai, the matter should be taken up with the Resort Management during the stay. A refund may be offered in circumstances where Kaini Mentawai finds the complaint to be valid. As it has to be investigated and accepted by all parties within the management of Kaini Mentawai, it may take longer time than your stay to finalize. Kaini Mentawai will not accept responsibility or liability beyond the money paid. The Resort Management will not deem complaints that are lodged upon or after departure from Kaini Mentawai.

Deposit

A deposit payment of 50% is required to confirm a booking for your selected dates. Deposit payments are non-refundable and can be used for future bookings.

Full payment is due 60 days before the check-in date.

Documents

A passport or copy of your passport is required to be present upon arrival.

A valid visa is required (if applicable) to present upon arrival.

Health concerns

Any health problems and injuries arising from environmental causes are outside of Kaini Mentawai's responsibility and is thus not accepted by Kaini Mentawai.

Insurance

Travel insurance is mandatory for guests of Kaini. The most important thing is to have coverage for medical evacuation. This is due to Kaini's remote location, tucked away from hospitals. Your insurance should cover your cost in the event of transport delays and cancellations, natural disasters, or any external factor outside Kaini Mentawai's responsibility.

In case of epidemics, pandemics, storms, catastrophes, earthquakes, volcano eruptions, tsunami, strikes, political unrest, war, terrorism etc. Kaini will not give any refund for the canceled booking. Your mandatory travel insurance should cover this.

Payment

The final payment is due 60 days before your check-in.

Payment is through bank transfer on the local account of Kaini Mentawai. Payment from an account outside Indonesia can be made through Wise or your bank at the payee's expense.

Additional expenses (beer, soft drinks, wax, accessories, etc.) can be paid by cash at Kaini Mentawai. The total bill will be settled before checking out.

Kaini Mentawai only accept Indonesian Rupiah as currency.

Rates

Daily rates are subject to change. After the deposit payment has been done the rate is confirmed.

Responsibility

All services and activities provided to guests from Kaini Mentawai is with high care, and it is at their own risk that guests participate in any activity and use of service. Kaini Mentawai will not accept responsibility or liability for any damage, injury, expense, loss, illness, accident, or any other suffering that is involved with Kaini Mentawai's activities or services.

Transport

All travel requests upon booking will be acknowledged and honored by Kaini Mentawai. In the case of cancellations or delays in transport services, Kaini Mentawai will not accept responsibility or liability.

Kaini Mentawai is not responsible for airline and ferry board fees or baggage policies. Airline and ferry board bag fees are outside of Kaini Mentawai's responsibility. Kaini Mentawai will not accept responsibility or liability for late arrival or missing luggage of any sort.
